Our Story

A corner shop with a very long relationship with coffee

Oak & Ember started in 2014 with one used roaster, a lease on a drafty corner unit, and a stubborn belief that a neighborhood deserves coffee as good as any capital city.

We buy green coffee directly from growers we've visited, roast it six blocks from this counter, and pull it within eight days. Our bakers laminate croissants by hand over three days. Nothing here arrives on a truck already finished.

Mostly, though, we built a room. One with warm oak, deep chairs, generous outlets, and staff who learn your name. Stay as long as you'd like.

Reviews

What the neighborhood says

The best cortado in the city, full stop. But it's the room that keeps me — warm wood, good light, and staff who remember my order.

Maya Ellison

Regular since 2019

I've written half my portfolio from the corner table. Fast Wi-Fi, real outlets, and nobody rushes you out.

Daniel Ruiz

Freelance designer

Their croissants are genuinely bakery-level. Flaky, buttery, gone in four minutes. Saturday mornings are sacred now.

Priya Raghavan

Neighbor

The single-origin pour over rotation is thoughtful and the baristas can actually talk you through it without being smug.

Tom Whitfield

Coffee nerd

I host client meetings here every week. It always makes the right impression — cozy, stylish, and quietly excellent.
